His sister, Harriet, briefly joined them before returning to Iowa. In the second season, Michael's father-in-law, Andy Pruitt, visited from Iowa, having sold his farm, and took up residence in their apartment.

Professor Mike Endicott's sister, Harriet, visits and is dismayed by Penny's arrest and strangers using their bathroom. Urging Mike to move his daughters back to Iowa, Harriet reconsiders after he showcases the appealing aspects of their Roman life.
