The Late Offices S1:E2

I, Mortician

After a sudden incident, Baki, a Muslim mortician, or ghassal, begins to worry about what will become of his body after death and who will take care of it. Concerned about his loneliness and fears, his friend suggests that getting married might be a solution.

Sweets and Secrets

With Nazım’s death and Baki performing the late offices, Baki’s search for a successor begins anew. Nazım’s widow refuses to bury him next to his brother due to their past conflicts. Meanwhile, Baki starts preparing halva for Nazım, a task that brings back painful memories.

The Dead Deserves No Further Gaze

Following Nazım's death, Ahmet visits Baki, advising him to find a wife to fill the emptiness of his home. While performing the washing ritual for the mafia boss Taylan, Baki is struck by the contrast between the ostentatious wealth and the hollow mourning. Merdan, the new hearse driver, is initially deceived by the crowd's show of grief but eventually uncovers the true nature of the gathering.

I Wonder Why You Wouldn't Marry Me

Baki visits Elif at her workplace for the first time, unintentionally disturbing the employees with his presence. When Elif asks for his assistance with a patient, Baki gets accidentally injured in the process. As he tries to convey his thoughts to Elif, his clumsy wording leads to a misunderstanding between them.

Shuttle, Wallet, Love, and Death

Baki visits his friend Ahmet, who fondly reminisces about how he fell in love with his wife, Neslihan. Inspired, Baki tries to replicate Ahmet's experience in his own search for love. However, he unexpectedly runs into Kerime, the bride who once rejected him, leading to an uncomfortable encounter with her mother.

The Man Nobody Wants

Baki receives the news of his father Haris's release with great trepidation. He travels to the village to take him home, where they meet twenty years later in a strange irony. The tension between them quickly escalates, triggering an argument that brings back painful memories.

Everyone Left But Me

Seeing Nadir still terrified of washing the dead, Baki suggests he consider a career change. Determined to help, Baki scours his old notebooks for internship opportunities for Nadir and even takes out a loan to support him in starting a new path.

If I'd Not Known, I'd Have Been Free

Baki is involved in a car accident and crosses paths with his rival for Elif's love. When they confront each other at Ahmet's house, Elif is forced to reveal a long-hidden secret that plunges everyone into grief and confusion.

The Kids and Us

Uncle Hüseyin and Baki share a deep conversation that transforms Baki's outlook on life. As Baki prepares to meet Elif, a tragic and heartbreaking event binds their fates together.
