My personal opinion: I liked this show so much. I liked that all the truth and the situations that can be met in the real life were shown as realistic as possible. Even if there were a lot of negative reviews on the internet, I truly think that this show is a very good one. It has 8 seasons, the ninth will be ready in September. But even if there are 8 seasons, I wasn't bored at all. Recommend it )

A Gritty and Brilliant Masterpiece of Raw Emotion, eleven wild completely unforgettable seasons of pure chaos.
Shameless (US) is hands-down one of the most uniquely captivating shows in television history. It masterfully walks a razor-thin line between hilarious dark comedy and raw, heartbreaking drama. The series handles heavy topics like poverty, addiction, and systemic struggles with zero filters, delivering a portrait of life on the South Side of Chicago that feels both wildly entertaining and devastatingly real. At its core, the unbreakable, chaotic bond of the Gallagher family is what keeps you entirely hooked.
The cast is phenomenal across the board, but Emmy Rossum’s Fiona was truly the heart and soul of the early seasons. Watching her sacrifice everything to keep her siblings afloat gave the show its deepest emotional stakes. While the series is a masterpiece overall, it definitely lost a bit of its magic after Fiona left. As the final seasons played out, I kept holding out hope that she would make a surprise comeback to give the family—and the fans—that ultimate sense of closure.
Thankfully, the rest of the ensemble is spectacular. Frank, Lip, Ian and Mickey, and Kev and V are the absolute lifeblood of this series; in my opinion, without these characters, there would simply be no Shameless. William H. Macy’s performance as the frustratingly brilliant Frank Gallagher remains legendary, while watching Lip battle his demons, experiencing the beautiful, chaotic journey of "Gallavich" (Ian and Mickey), and laughing along with the hilarious stability of Kev and V is what holds the entire show together. This core crew ensures that the 11-season journey remains incredibly rewarding, deeply human, and completely unforgettable. 4.5/5 stars.
