The promotional material for God Skin described it as steampunk Muay Thai, which it unfortunately is not. It’s more of a Muay Thai version of Leigh Whannell’s Upgrade, which is still potentially cool. Conceptually, God Skin is off-the-charts awesome. But its execution leaves so much to be desired. The film’s flaws can almost be completely forgiven when it comes to God Skin’s finale, as the twist is unbelievably ballsy and unexpected.
