"Danny" loves his dog "Charlie" and delights in playing adventurous games with him when he isn't at school. As he gets older, though, so does his pet and when "Charlie" struggles to even make it up the stairs he begins to worry about him. Meantime, in another galaxy far, far, away a spoiled little princeling is looking for a pet. When his spaceship just happens to stop above their garden, it beams up "Charlie" and the vicious cat "Puddy" from next door and next thing we know, "Danny" has a newly invigorated best friend who goes about in a mask and a bright red cape rescuing all and sundry. He even befriends the President! "Charlie" isn't the only newly empowered beastie as the grumpy cat also discovers that he can avenge himself on his indifferent owner and finally get some decent food. When his favourite snack is discontinued in favour of a new brand of "Wonderdog" food, he decides that retribution must be in order and battle lines are drawn between the cat and the dog that seems likely to endanger the whole world. What happens next? Well on that front, there is precisely no jeopardy and indeed for much of this there is a sense of déjà-vu but it's still quite an action packed little animated adventure with an hint of sci-fi that is certainly far too long and doesn't look especially innovative, but is watchable enough.
