Well if you thought that the premiss of "Say Yes" (2018) was fairly preposterous, just wait to you watch this sequel. You'll remember that the dying "Lily" (Leah McKendrick) wished for her husband "Beau" (Patrick Zeller) and her bisexual brother "Caden" (Matt Pascua) to hook up after she'd gone. Well they didn't exactly let the grass grow and now one year later, they get another surprise. She froze some of her embryos and it's going to be up to them if they decide to fertilise them. After lots of over-thinking, deliberating and cogitation, "Caden" hits on the idea of asking his ex-girlfriend to be the surrogate but when he gets a bit carried away with "Candace" (Stefanie Estes) they manage to upset just about everyone. To make matters worse, the now hacked-off "Beau" decides that he doesn't want to consider her anymore and so it's his mother-in-law who offers to step up. Can they salvage anything from this mess? There are glimmers of humour from the writing on occasion here, but the acting is pretty woeful and there's no more chemistry between Pascua and Zeller here than there was when the latter was happily married and straight. The production looks like single-camera college project style stuff, and what little originality there was in the idea gets swamped by the amateurishness of it all. I might not look at a traffic cone in the same way ever again, either.
