Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind

One of my favorite Mortal Kombat movies. I really enjoyed Kenshi as the protagonist and enjoyed the karate kid vibes the movie gave with sub zero training him. It was a lot of fun to watch. The story was good and kano and Shang tsung were good villains. Additionally, seeing other characters like tremor, erron black, ferra torr, kabal, Kira and kobra was awesome.

Taking Mortal Kombat out of its classic mystical tournaments and dropping it into a dusty, Mad Max-style wasteland is a bold move. It is definitely a breath of fresh air to see a post-apocalyptic western setting ruled by an older, dictator version of Kano. However, this massive change comes with a price. For hardcore fans, it feels a bit alienating, almost like a completely different sci-fi script that just got the MK logo slapped on it for convenience. It is a very creative setup, but it ends up feeling a bit empty and disconnected from the rich mythology the franchise is known for.

The story focuses heavily on Kenshi, an arrogant swordsman who loses his sight, and his older, reluctant mentor, Sub-Zero. While the classic blind samurai and 80s training movie vibes are fun, the pacing really hurts the film. Kenshi spends way too much time whining, and Sub-Zero is frustratingly passive, refusing to fight for most of the story. Because of this endless back-and-forth, the middle of the movie drags horribly. It makes a short 80-minute runtime feel way longer and more tiring than it should before it finally reaches the climax.

When it comes to the action and the villains, the movie relies too much on empty gore and wasted cameos. It brings back forgotten fighters from the Black Dragon clan just to use them as cannon fodder for overly bloody fatalities without any emotional weight. Kano is physically threatening, but he completely loses his trademark sarcasm and chaotic charm, becoming a pretty generic bad guy. To make matters worse, plastering Scorpion all over the marketing was basically false advertising, as the franchise's mascot only pops up at the very end as a lazy plot device.

The only real saving grace here is the voice acting, which is surprisingly good and adds some much-needed emotional depth to the characters. Unfortunately, the technical side of the movie just doesn't hold up. The animation looks cheap and stiff, featuring poorly blended CGI and...
